What Is Needed?
We know that if you have a team of highly skilled individuals able to consistently deliver stroke care across an organised stroke pathway, this saves lives and reduces the severity of a disability. We also know that if the same team of highly skilled individuals can deliver that care in a dedicated area purpose built for stroke care delivery, survivability increases exponentially.
We need to develop a highly skilled team in Malawi to deliver the stroke care.
We need to build a stroke unit in Malawi so that there is a dedicated space to deliver stroke care by the highly skilled team.
We need help to link existing services in Malawi that can provide effective stroke care both in a hospital and in the community.
We need to develop the concept of the multi-disciplinary team (doctor, nurse & therapist) all working together as one. A model that has provided highly functional teams making the delivery of stroke care the success it is in the UK.
We can make this happen and become a reality by following our 5-year plan and by putting your donations to good use to help revolutionise stroke care in Malawi.
